DECAMERONE 2020 (a blog during lockdown)

Berlin, Bucharest, Cluj, Houston, Kiev, London, Milano, Rome 2020  During the Covid-19 Pandemic in Spring 2020, 10 friends from different cities – 7 women and 3 men – are contacted via email from an unknown address decameron2020@gmx.de, with the unusual invitation to create a contemporary, transcultural Decamerone. Such a pity they cannot afford a retreat to the beautiful Italian countryside. Day by day a new topic is decided and every storyteller writes a text in a language and a genre of his/her choice. Every day lasts 72, 96 or sometimes even more than 100 hours, depending on the rate of time flow which seems to follow a very different logic during the pandemic.

From time to time other friends from other places will be contacted and invited to contribute.

By the time the 10-day-oeuvre is finally complete, the quarantine should be over, their lives can return to normal and the friends will even be able, if they feel like, to plan a retreat to a beautiful Italian countryside villa to cure the psychological impact of the pandemic.

Read here texts by Alexandra Crăsnaru, Alexander De Tey, Patricia Restrepo, Ana Maria Carabelea, Daniela Duca, Bogdan Vătavu, Iuliana Dumitru, Jeanny Ricci, Omar del Nonno, Marta & Olivia Agostini, Alina Cristea & Anna Homan.
