TRANSYLVANIA RETOUCHED
Here is the accompanying catalogue of the exhibition Transylvania Retouched. A Matter of Landscape and Representation. The publication showcases contemporary approaches to landscape, as well as previously unpublished archival material documenting land art actions from the 70s and 80s of the Transylvanian Neo-avantgarde group MAMÜ. The contemporary artists included in this volume – Radu Baieș, Anca Benera & Arnold Estefan, Károly Elekes, Zsolt Fekete, Lehel Kovács, Szabolcs KissPál – work with landscape beyond the usual category of picturesque, demonstrating that landscape art is still relevant today, aesthetically, as an active medium and as a cultural practice involved in the (re)formation of political and cultural identities.
